2008 Florida Subaru Challenge Event

We are pleased to announce the 2008 Florida Subaru Challenge Event to be held on Saturday, November 1st, 2008 at the Gainesville Raceway in Gainesville, Florida. 

We would like to take this opportunity to tell you what the Florida Subaru Challenge is and what it is not.  

It is…

·       A Subaru enthusiast event designed to enhance your Subaru ownership experience.

·       An exclusive, Subaru only event. No other make vehicle will be allowed to compete.

·       Your opportunity to have fun with your fellow Subaru enthusiasts and to meet some of them in person for the first time.

·       Your opportunity to test your Subaru’s capabilities and your driving skills in a controlled and safe environment.

·       Your opportunity to see some pretty tricked out Subaru’s and be able to talk to their owner/creators.  

 

What the Florida Subaru Challenge is not…

·       It is not and never will be a forum for Subaru personnel to take pictures and record VIN’s to void future warranty claims.

·       A boring waste of your time.

It will only cost $45.00 to participate and you will have ten times that much fun if you attend. Take advantage of the On-Line Registration (It will Open August 1st, 2008!) as only 125 entries will be accepted and we look forward to seeing you in Gainesville!

Entry Fee: $45.00

Entry Fee includes participation in the Subaru Challenge event competition and more to be announced at a later date.

We have 25 rooms blocked for Challenge participants. The room rate is $79.00 per night plus tax. Make your room reservations by calling (352) 332-7500 and mention "Subaru Challenge" to get the group rate. To receive this rate, rooms must be booked before October 20th, 2008, any rooms booked after this date will be charged at the regular rate.

 

All guest rooms have coffee makers, curved shower rods, hair dryers, irons, ironing boards, Nintendo game systems, voice mail and cable television. In addition, some rooms come equipped with refrigerators, microwaves, sofa sleepers and desks. Handicap accessible and non-smoking rooms are available. All rooms include full-service amenities and features like:

  • Free high-speed Internet access in all rooms
  • Free wireless high-speed Internet access on the property
  • Free local calls
  • Exercise room
  • Outdoor heated pool

Laundry facilities are located on the premises. Room service is offered for your added convenience.

Gainesville Bragging-Rights Trophy Rules:

  • Each team or group will determine five designated drivers to represent the team. These designated drivers must be given to the event staff before the drivers meeting.

  • Each team designated driver must own the Subaru that they will be competing in on Saturday, November 1st, 2008.

  • The designated drivers from each team must be entered in different competitive classes. No two participants on the same team may compete in the same competitive class.

  • No substitutes will be allowed following the Friday announcement by each team. In the event of a mechanical break down, the drivers best PAX time will be used.

  • The team winner for the Florida Subaru Challenge Bragging Rights Trophy will be determined by the lowest combined PAX times of the five team designated drivers for each team. The PAX times for these five designated drivers can come from either the regular four challenge heats or one of the two "Super Star Challenge" runs. Whichever times are better.

  • In the event of a tie, the awarding of the Bragging Rights Trophy will be determined by a coin flip.

Friday Evening Schedule:

5:00PM-8:00PM     Tech and informal meet at the event hotel.              

 

Saturday Event Schedule:

7:30AM-9:00AM     Check-In & Tech at event site, Course will be open for walk-through.

9:15AM                   Drivers Meeting (Mandatory), Followed by the Novice Walk Through.

9:45AM                   Heat #1 - Staging

10:00AM-1:00PM    Competition - Heats #1 & #2

1:00PM-1:30PM       Lunch Break, course open for walk-through (Dependent on time).

1:30PM-4:00PM       Competition - Heats #3 & #4

4:00PM                    Superstar Competition

Following Superstar Competition - Awards Presentation

 

All times are subject to change depending on local circumstances. The event will be held rain or shine as long as it is safe to do so, any lightning in the area will delay the event.
